Crawford's Kingsmen Kommentary

Oct 15 | Posted by: Kingsmen Quartet

We are fully immersed in FOOTBALL mode on the Kingsmen bus.  Of course Sellers gives us a ROLL TIDE about every 15 minutes or so!  The rest of us tolerate him and just enjoy watching 22 guys chasing a well-made pumpkin around the prettiest pasture . . .and I believed I would have another big orange . . .

Over the last couple of weeks we have seen several come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.  A pastor at a church in Graham, NC had his mother-in-law (of 38 years) get saved!  God is GOOD! I don’t say that to brag on us – but to give praise to the One who makes it happen.  God does His thing and does it WELL!  We just so happened to be there when it took place . . .thank you GOD!

There are several BIG singings coming up over the rest of 2013. Check the Kingsmen website at or find us on Facebook for dates and times near you.  Don’t miss an opportunity to come out and worship with the Kingsmen.

Now on to this week’s Kommentary . . .

The blessings of the past month have served to remind me of one CRUCIAL mistake people make when it comes to their salvation; one so deadly it can condemn your soul to hell – and it begs this question . . .

Do you know Jesus, or do you just know ABOUT Jesus?

When the Pastor in Graham, NC saw his mother-in-law come forward to give her heart to Christ it was a tremendous answer to prayer.  He and his wife (married 38 years) realized that she (the mother-in-law) had never given her heart to the Lord.  She was a church-going woman, however.  A good woman who seemed loved and respected in the community.  Her son-in-law was the Pastor of one of the largest churches in town for heaven’s sake!  She had to be saved, right? WRONG! She was just as lost as the vilest sinner ever to draw a breath.  She knew about Jesus, she didn’t know Jesus.

We can’t take this topic lightly.  We can’t take for granted that all who say, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the Kingdom of God. Look at Christ’s own words:

Mat 7:21-23  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

“I never knew you”. These are quite simply the most chilling words one could ever hear.  Words that carry condemnation, despair, emptiness, and most of all – separation. Separation from the Father in Heaven for eternity.  Separation from the joys of the Lord.  Separation from His eternal Love.

You see, what you do does not win your salvation.  To pay for your sin, your works mean nothing to God.  You cannot buy your way to Heaven.  You cannot “good” your way to Heaven.

Isa 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Plain and simple. Matters not how many years you have attended church, baked cakes for homecoming, taught Sunday School lessons, been a Deacon, been an Elder, been a Pastor . . .

Only accepting the sacrifice and shed blood of Jesus, believing God has raised Him from the dead, and professing Him as Lord will you be saved.

Rom 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth.  You cannot hide it.  You cannot say, “Well, me and Jesus got it together.  He knows.  I don’t have to go before anyone and tell them.” This is another fatal mistake. Once you realize who and what Jesus is – you will WANT to tell this world about Him and the change He has made in you.

Mat 10:32-33  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  33  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Don’t think for a second you can hide it.  If you want to hide it then you ain’t got it!!!! If your pride keeps you from acknowledging Christ, then Christ isn’t in you.  If anything keeps you from acknowledging Christ, then Christ isn’t in you.  When His miraculous Love and Grace come upon you, you will shout it to the world!

Joh 5:8-12  Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.  9  And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.  10  The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.  11  He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.  12  Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

John 5:15  The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

The man who had been healed knew who his Healer and Savior was!  He let the people know for a fact who he stood for.  We owe the Lord all the adoration and praise for the ULTIMATE healing in our lives.  The healing that only comes through salvation.  THE HEALING!

Now – ask yourself – have I made a true and public profession of faith in Christ Jesus?  I am not asking you to doubt your or anyone else’s salvation.  I am imploring you to search within yourself and seek the leading of the Holy Spirit to expose your heart.  And inside your heart you will see and know if Christ dwells within.  The Holy Spirit will reveal this to you.  You will KNOW; there will be no doubt.

It is the prayer of the Kingsmen that you have made this profession of faith, are saved, and on your way to Heaven!  If you are in need of further guidance or prayer, find a Pastor or someone you know to be a strong Christian and let them know your questions and/or concerns. They will be more than honored to walk you through the word and pray with you . . .then the Holy Spirit will shine His light of Love on your heart and reveal the true resident of your heart. Is it your pride and good works? Or is it the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?  Don’t guess.  Don’t assume. Don’t think . . . .KNOW!
