Crawford's Kingsmen Kommentary

Greetings Kingsmen friends!   NQC went great for the Kingsmen and we said goodbye to the Bluegrass State.  Next year – NQC makes its new home in Pigeon Forge, TN.  We all have great memories of NQC in Louisville.  One of mine is stepping on stage with Gold City and the Cathedrals to kick off the 1998 Convention.  We all came down through the aisles singing Looking For A City . . .and there I was . . .singing on stage with Glen Payne!  Not to mention all the other Hall of Famers up there.  Just one of the many unforgettable moments of NQC in Louisville. Thanks to all the friends and fans of southern gospel for making NQC such a fantastic event.  See you next year in Pigeon Forge!

We hope you are hearing the latest single from the Kingsmen “Land of the Free” on your local radio station or satellite provider.  The response to this great song has been overwhelming.  It is a song of our belief in this nation and a thank you to all the men and women who fight to keep her free.  America is still one nation under God – The Land of the Free – The Home of the Brave!

Question . . . how seriously to do take the command from Jesus to tell the Good News?  Now I am not talking about becoming a minister, Sunday School teacher, or a gospel singer – but just sharing your faith in Jesus. The act of WITNESSING for JESUS. Testifying of His love in your life and how He and He alone has saved you and given you hope and a future. This should be the most IMPORTANT thing we do everyday.  Think of it this way . . .if you cheered for a college sports team, and they won the national championship, every time you interacted with anyone you would be shouting out your pride and joy in the fact that your team won!  “ROOOOOOOOOOLL TIDE!” or “GO BIG BLUE!” or “HOW ‘BOUT THEM ARDVARKS?!” How can that be more important than, “JESUS SAVES!”  We holler for our favorite teams even when it makes others mad or uncomfortable.  Most of us don’t care what others think about our team because WE LOVE THEM SO MUCH! We argue and state our case as to why we think they are the best.  We recite stat after stat – player after player – sing the praises of the coach – all in an attempt to win people over to our way of thinking.  HOW MANY TOES DID I JUST CRUSH?!!!!!

Jesus garners no less attention or passion.  To be correct, He deserves, no, COMMANDS more attention.  He has done for us what no other – certainly a sports team – could ever do.  And as a Christian we should be excited about telling others of the great Love of Jesus. We should be ready to recite stat after stat backing up our belief.  We should bring testimony of what He has done for us showing the full and real power of Christ in our lives.  We should WANT to tell of Jesus – we should be on fire to proclaim what He has done in our lives!  Sadly, MOST Christians can’t or won’t share their faith with non-believers.  They are either too scared, don’t have the knowledge or worse yet, embarrassed to speak up.  Makes you wonder if they really have what they say they have.

This commentary is not written to make anyone feel guilty.  On the contrary, it is written to challenge us all to answer the Great Commission of Christ.  To tell the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mar 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Pray every day for God to give you the opportunity to share His love with someone who doesn’t know Him. Ask God to give you the boldness of the disciples of old to speak up for the Lord.  And study your Bible to learn those keys verses that can lead the lost to Jesus.  It’s not hard.  You don’t have to memorize 50 verses or go to seminary to do this.  Just one or two simple verses is all you need.  God’s Word speaks for its self.  My favorites are . . .

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Joh 3:16-17  16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Simple – easy – powerful. That’s it.  That’s all there is to it.  Don’t try to give advice or counseling to someone on how they should stop doing this thing or start doing that thing.  Give them Jesus, period.  Let the Holy Spirit do the “cleaning up” later.

His promises are too precious, His Love is too wonderful, His Grace is too abundant, and His forgiveness is too complete for us NOT to share!  TELL OF HIS EXCELENT GREATNESS!!! Forever will I PRAISE HIM!
